Anno Ket is exactly one person, using a few different instruments to make something resembling music. She attempted and completed the RPM challenge for the first time in 2016; 2017 brought an opportunity to make slightly different but still decidedly messy noise and call it "ten new songs".
More musical map than concept album, Meromictic is a collection of simple, soft-punk tracks telling short and non-essential stories from a small, non-essential lakeside town. Contains more mandolin than the average RPM album; but like the lake type after which it was named, it is unnervingly un-mixed.
Nothing went right, but everything happened anyway. This album hits every subject I didn't think I dared to wail about: politics, magic, art, angels, espionage. Recorded half on a 4-track, half to my phone in an impromptu and ill-advised bathroom session. Underpinnings are about half guitar, half mandolin.
